Pull List for week of July 06, 2016

DC Comics

Batman #2
Rebirth continues. With the new duo of Gotham and Gotham Girl, Batman has more help than before. It's not like he needed it. I like the direction the book is going and will wait out and see how the new duo actually helps Batman or hinders him.

Batman 66 Meets Steed and Mrs Peel #1 (of 6)
Another team up of a couple of classic TV shows. This time around the Caped Crusaders meet Britain's super-spies The Avengers. This was originally a digital series and is finally coming to print. I like the Batman 66 series because it incorporates the campiness of the TV show but also the nuance of it as well.

Batman Beyond (2015-) #14
This issue is more of a look into the past, as to when Matt finds out his brother Terry was Batman. It's something that was never really answered before and it seemed a cop-out after Terry had died. Now that Matt doesn't blame Tim anymore, Matt is brought into the fold of the Bat family.

Bloodlines (2016-) #4 (of 6) Homecoming
The Bloodlines saga continues. What is the mysterious object in everyone's bodies that give them their powers? Will they eventually go insane as Duncan predicted? Only time will tell.
I'm liking this series more and more and hope the resolution isn't going to be some convoluted mess.

Flintstones #1
This ain't your cartoon TV show Flintstones, these are the jacked up ones. The book is set against what might be a more "modern" backdrop. There's a knockoff of Starbucks and various other stores. The Water Buffalo lodge is now a Veteran's lodge and Fred goes there to discuss his issues with others in relation to a war they were in. My biggest issue is the whole "everyone is muscular" trope. Every male in the book is a muscle bound, jacked up individual. Fred is. Barney is. Even Fred's boss, Mr Slate is. As well as the art critics. They could have easily drawn the characters just like the TV show and given some of the other people the muscular bodies. But the book seems more fluid than the Wacky Racers book, which seemed like a jumbled mess.

Future Quest #2
More action with characters, this time showing the point of view of right before the wormhole appeared. The Herculoids and Space Ghost are fighting this monstrous entity and all hope seems lost as some of the Herculoid animals are lost. Then it pans to the present with the Quest boys finding the black hole.
This book is a throwback to all those TV shows but combines it into one big episode. I don't think the book will last longer than say 30 issues, if only to introduce other characters and to finish the story-line of what the threat is.

Green Arrow #2
Ollie Queen is dead again? No, not really but it seems like it. Betrayed by Emi and her mother, Shado, Ollie washes up on a beach and is helped by a friend of a friend. When Ollie returns to the mainland, he can't prove who he is, his money is gone and his building is set to be demolished. It looks like he angered the wrong people.
As long as they keep Ollie as the older person that he is, I think the comic will work out. I kind of liked the younger one but after a while it wore thin.

IDW

Transformers Till All Are One #2
With the murder of a Autobot, Starscream must quell the people so they won't riot. Doesn't help that Starscream is seeing the ghost of Bumblebee. A new plan is set into motion to discredit certain parties and it might work.
I've liked the Transformers series for a while and hope this one continues to impress. Windblade is a great character and hopefully she will become more of a mainstream character. Starscream seems like the same old person but with a Machiavellian twist.

Marvel

Daredevil Punisher #3 (of 4)
Daredevil and the Punisher are at it again. Punisher is still trying to kill a Russian mobster and DD and his new protege  Blindspot won't let him.
It's good to see these two interact again as it seems that if Frank had a "bad guy" list, DD would be on it even though we know DD isn't a bad guy.

Deadpool vs. Gambit #2 (of 5)
More shenanigans from these two. It seemed like this book was a long time coming and it's good to see these 2 characters bounce off each other and having with it.

The Punisher (2016-) #3
Becky Cloonan's Punisher is a hit. The Punisher is still looking for the source of the drug that seems to give people almost superhuman powers. A little girl is with a bomb is used as bait and Frank takes out the entire group before the switch can be pushed.
I like Steve Dillon's art and I think it represents Frank in a positive way. The look of Frank is a sturdy man with just enough build to him. Not to say others haven't done Frank justice, it's just at this point Dillon's is in my opinion the best representation of him.

Spider-Man 2099 (2015-) #12
The new Sinister Six of 2099 is trying to kill Spidey but they must first deal with the traitor in their group. Miguel O'Hara seems to be more of a violent Spidey than the others, kind of like Kaine and seems poised to cross the line into becoming a villain. All it takes is one particular act to set him off enough to do that.

Star Wars Han Solo #2 (of 5)
The race is on! As explained in the last issue, Han has entered a race in an effort to find a spy that used to work for the Resistance. To top if off, it seems someone may be trying to kill all the racers as well. The Empire then arrests all the racers but as for the reason? One isn't provided yet.
I have all the Star Wars series except the Leia one and like the fact that we can see what is happening between episodes. At some point, they are going to either cancel all the series and start again and set after Empire Strikes Back or write it so where it starts right after that. With the Vader comic coming to an end, it would seem that may be going that route.
